The Institute of Space and Planetary Astrophysics, University of Karachi has announced that a partial solar eclipse will be seen in Karachi on July 22 (today).

“As the Sun rises over Karachi on July 22, 2009, it will be eclipsed around 80 per cent. The partial solar eclipse will end at 7:48am,” said Dr Muhammad Shahid Qureshi, in-charge of the ISPA in a statement.


The ISPA statement said the solar eclipse would be total and would first be seen in the eastern parts of India just after sunrise. It will be seen from Indian cities of Surat, Indor, Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Patna. The total solar eclipse would also be seen from central eastern parts of China.
