Nokia_mainThose were the old days, when Nokia was known as a cell phone company. Nokia had already introduced a range of mobiles which were beyond the concept of a cell phone, like we had Nokia communicator series (Nokia 9210, 9300, 9500) nut those were still limited and couldn’t be regarded as mobile computing over pc platform. Then with the passage of time, Nokia introduced some wide range of cell phones that brought a new era of mobile technology.

Starting from scratch, nokia came up with such devices that were almost able to perform most of the pc environment applications, yet with some exceptions and limitations. Yes this is the time, when nokia is going to bring a revolutionary change in computer world.
Nokia doesn’t make phones. It makes portable devices. Possibly it can be said that it also doesn’t make notebooks. Instead it makes “mini-laptops”. Nokia has just announced to launch 3G Booklet. Which is announced to have a price of €575 ($810) without subsidies? Which is expected to be available for sale after 22 October? As far as specifications are concerned (more here)…
Intel Atom Z530, 120 GB hard disk, 1 GB RAM, Windows 7, integrated Ovi Suite (for maps, calendar contacts, media etc), a 16-cell battery that promises a 12 hour battery life, Bluetooth, 3 x USB 2.0, an SD card reader, a 10.1-inch LCD (1,280 x 720) and of course, a 1.3MP camera, the thin (2cm) aluminum case holds an HDMI-out port. Main feature of this machine is that, you can use your sim cards on it, as it is a 3G enabled device. It also has a 3G radio in the form of HSPA and a hot-swappable SIM card slot. It has faux-GPS (Wi-Fi triangulation) hooked up to Ovi Maps.
The new Nokia Booklet 3G will be a Windows-based machine, with Windows 7 pre included and supported by an efficient Intel Atom processor that promises the performance of a full-function PC. It is said to have a battery life of 12 hours with normal daily use. Product is expected to be available in three colors, black, silver and blue.
Nokia’s Executive Vice President for Devices, Kai Oistamo talks about this new mini-machine:

“A growing number of people want the computing power of a PC with the full benefits of mobility. We are in the business of connecting people and the Nokia Booklet 3G is a natural evolution for us. Nokia has a long and rich heritage in mobility and with the outstanding battery life, premium design and all day, always on connectivity, we will create something quite compelling. In doing so we will make the personal computer more social, more helpful and more personal.”
