Zong – All Over UET
We had previously published Zong Reaches Educational Institues for Advertisement. It may be a good or bad tactic to go for educational institues for this kinda publicity – cannot say anything at this stage, but surely it was possible with the consent of University’s Management and concerned authorities. We seen Zong taking over every possible place in UET which can be taken as “To Let”.
Previously we seen Zong Banner on buses which was strange to us as cellular company to reaches educational institute like this but the story didn’t end yet, Zong kept on occupying all places in UET from cafeteria to departments, from bus stands to waiting points.
Here are some pictures taken at UET, we see Zong Posters and Benches in bus stand waiting area
and at barriers which are now everywhere in UET, since intense security measures were taken after drastic situation of terrorism in Pakistan, these barriers are from Main gates to each and every wide turn.
and then all old boards displaying Department Names are now replaced by newer ones, which are also provided by Zong.
Obviously, Zong must have been paying for these new additions but as we often see construction and add-ons often in UET consisting of real big projects and investment, so at this stage i cannot think this is to earn some bucks for UET as it already gets huge grants from govt.
Who knows where these interest are being deposit, maybe someone from the managing body or someone else, will surely add to this as we get clear and authentic detail.

Its shameful i’d say- At least the Boards with the department names should have been spared. Any new visitor would think that its some kind of China Mobile funded UNiversity- Which it really isnt –
Nice comment, “China Mobile funded UNiversity- Which it really isnt”. But the thing is who is responsible, who is behind all this – The Management ? then whom to complaint and whom to blame …
I think that there is hardly anyone to blame. Before this government took over we hardly had any financial crisis. But
after we got hit – we needed a concrete and strategy , A raise in the fees was Okay. But collaboration With CM should have been on more than just a ‘banner or ad sale’ . We could have made a new department or a high speed dsl line courtesy of CM – We could have named it Zong something-
But the present policy is not professional in the least- Guess i think they should learn a thing or two from the people at IBA or LUMS !
I appreciate your thoughts. Zong Research Center or somewhat Zong IRC would have been a blessing to add something to UET IT Life.
