Google is to launch its own phone we must say – GPhone next year. Google has named it NEXUS, which has now been designed and manufactured but is under pre-launch period to find out bugs and limitations. Numerous Google staff are actually using an unbranded Gphone, and pictures of it have been posted via Twitter. It’s called the Nexus One, it runs Google Android, obviously, and it’s being manufactured for Google by HTC.

google_nexus_one_livePhone is currently used by Google’s own employees for the test period. Google’s Mobile blog says staff are “dogfooding” the device. (a term that has long been standard at Microsoft).

From preview it seems to be a perfect copy of HTC Passion trend with addition of some buttons, but the real machine will come to market in early 2010. Then one will be able to comment.

Google Blog says:

We recently came up with the concept of a mobile lab, which is a device that combines innovative hardware from a partner with software that runs on Android to experiment with new mobile features and capabilities, and we shared this device with Google employees across the globe. This means they get to test out a new technology and help improve it.

Gphone will be sold direct to consumers, not via a network contract.

This move will make Google’s Android more common which previously available on HTC and Motorola mobiles, but Google may be looking to add Google Voice to its NEXUS which was completely refused by Apple for iPhone.

Google itself is taking interest in phone design from apps to look and shape and this is the first time when we see Google plunged into hardware marketing, previously it was Software Giant, Lets see how it conquers the hardware race of phones.
