Huawei To Assist Pakistani Telecom Operator in 3G
Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei has announced that it will help Pakistan Telecommunications, the largest comprehensive telecom operator in Pakistan, update its 3G commercial network.
Huawei said it will deploy an end-to-end CDMA2000 DORB commercial network for Pakistan Telecommunications. Initially covering Pakistan’s major cities, including Karachi and Lahore, the network will be developed into a nationwide one in the future.
As the major supplier for Pakistan Telecommunications’ CDMA2000 DORA network, Huawei was selected to deploy the CDMA2000 DORB network soon after the hand over of the DORA network. Based on the current DORA network, the network speed will be increased by three times with this new network. Huawei did not reveal the financial details for this deal.
According to reports in Chinese media, Huawei’s revenue in 2009 reached over USD10 billion, of which 53.5% was from the overseas market.
