First Pakistan-made ‘Mobile Hand Set’ to be Launched within Year

First Pakistani mobile hand set would be available in the market within a period of one year, Secretary of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom Najibullah Malik said Thursday. Talking to media after attending a workshop here, he said,”talks with China and British companies in this regard are underway and the first made in Pakistan mobile hand set would be available in the market within a period of one year.”

He added that talks in this regard with China and British companies are final stages.

To a question, he said the government is taking all possible measures to boost the IT sector in the country. The secretary said the government is well aware of the problems being faced by the IT sector, adding “We will address all the problems of the IT sector.” Najibullah Malik said the ministry is finalizing the new IT policy and all IT sector related concerns will be addressed.

The Ministry would take all stakeholders on board in finalizing the new IT policy, he said.

He added that the ministry would further work in IT education and research sector. The secretary said local IT products would be produced within the country. He was of the view that Pakistan has done a lot of work in IT sector but more is needed to be done in this sector. To a question, he said Broadband infrastructure is available to 80 percent of the areas of the country.
