They say that media is the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that’s the power. Because they control the minds of the masses. What people adopt is the trend being depicted by media and channels. After the shower of channels, they are everywhere. With such abundance, competition is on its way.

An American industrialist, John D. Rockefeller, said, Competition is a sin. One really gets astonished at first, after reading this but a bird’s eye view of present scenario produced by channels will reveal the story. Media has involved to such a level in our daily lives that one can’t stop him/herself to get effected by it. Either in positive or negative way, we are changed by it.

That’s the tool now being used for the most lethal type of destruction The Media War. Better to paralyze the economy and youth of a country rather than indulging in combat. And the effects of Media War are now coming to scene.

23rd March – The Pakistan Day, just passed and we seen different channels televising many a programs for the day. I happened to  watch Geo TV – on of the most watched channels of Pakistan, a pure Pakistani channel.  The Special show was “GEO Dhoom Musical Night” or somewhat like this. As the name justifies it was purely a musical show.

Firstly, what is the purpose of musical show on Pakistan Day, The day of resolution, where on the other hand young generation is passing resolutions as “Takmeel-e-Pakistan” and “Azm-e-Aalishan” and we are enjoying the day with music. Somehow we tolerate it, considering the trend of media and latest “development”.

The thing which astonished me the most, was, the dancers performing on Indian Songs. Yes, Indian Songs in Pakistan Day show. And not one, there were a lot of them.

Now let’s have a look back at the trend and behavior of India. We recently reported Indian Cellular companies distributing messages against Pakistan, quoted below:

Whenever a call is made to Pakistan, the caller receives an SMS; “You just made a call to ISD Code 0092 (Pakistan’s international dialing code). We urge you to exercise caution while calling unknown number and sharing personal details as it can be misused”.

And our media  always try to keep on claiming indo-pak friendship. Apart from any political point of view, as a Pakistan and Muslim, i openly say that instead of listening to these fake friendships with non-Muslims, we must first listen to what our Holy Book – The Quran said:

And the Jews will not be pleased with thee, nor will the Christians, till thou follow their creed. Say: Lo! the guidance of Allah (Himself) is Guidance. And if thou shouldest follow their desires after the knowledge which hath come unto thee, then wouldst thou have from Allah no protecting no helper.

(Book No. 1, Chapter No. 2 Surah Al Bakra (The Cow) – Verse No. 120)

Coming back to point, this really is not the way to celebrate Pakistan Day with dancing on Indian songs. What to say when media is promoting this.

This really is not our Pakistan, the country which was resoluted 70 years ago on the same day, achieved after the intense sacrifices and losses what our ancestors faced, we really can;t imagine a bit of it.

This is not the Pakistan, what Iqbal dreamt off and Quiad founded. But this is my country, this is your country. We have to think again on which path we are and to what we were guided.

Pakistan I Miss You, But Still I Love You…

patriotism is not in words it lies in our thinking…

and if youth still loves PAKISTAN it means patriotism is still alive in minds

as far as media is concerned, i don’t think so we are living in a pakistani media at all… we are just being delighted by a fake fantacy and this fantacy is being brought forth by those “hands” who still love to make us slaves as we were before partition.

THOUGH media is overpowering, we can do our part as youth…LOVE PAKISTAN BE PAKISTAN

    Long live PTV!

  3. Muz says:

Private media infuriate rebellion among masses and intoxicate youth with pessimism and lacks in building a sense of national harmony by creating differences among people, opposing everything without realization of problems, showing hell raising voilence spreading fear, portraying news like end of time knocking at door. It can either lead to a revolution or we can end up by tearing ourselves apart in a civil war.

    A very nice post indeed!
i think Pakistani media industry and music are revitalizing…remembering the beautiful mixture of Persian poetry along with Sufi Music, in Coke Studio (thou it was once ina blue moon). I being very rational coz on occasions like Pakistan’s Day or Independence Day, we hear Pakistani stuff un-intentionally that’s where our patriotism lies within. I hapopen to see Wahga Border documentary on the very day, that counts for pro when talk about activities took place in paki media. However, indian media is dominating our thoughts and one can see they are edging themselves better then us…we still dont have independent channel for children where they can watch cartoons in islamic context…all we can do is to avoid listening and watching what so ever is against Pakistan and Islam. have a very nice day, take care

Yes, on that note i would like to share something, i don’t know exactly the name of the channel it may be on cartoon network (India) but i am not sure, anyhow, i watched cartoon in which all characters were shown with their religious symbols and the leading role was kind of their religious hero. Using all the actual Indian terms with real display of their culture, that is how they teach their children.
That is how it should be.
But Alas!! They are ruling us too. And i believe, psychological rule is way more effective than physical one.
As you may be a rebel to the later one but when you are psychologically trapped, each thing given to you is a must to follow for you.

  7. Manan says:

patriotism is as much responsibility as much as its a honor, a responsibility on each one of us.
On a second note, media shows what public craves, as irresponsible as our media be, we as a whole are equally responsible for not raising our voice as whole, and telling their sponsors that this is not what we want to see.

  8. Ahsan Javed says:

But i Believe, no one is here to take initiative.

  9. Dawer Saeed says:

Ahsan very nice & eye opening post.
but you know we selected the government and that government made this media free enough.

and you know sometimes i think that why media emphasize any small issue like small family disputes & each and every small bomb attack etc?
doesn’t it affects the image of Pakistan in the whole world?
doesn’t it make the people to run away from Pakistan?
    doesn’t it affects the tourism?
the owners of these channels are Pakistani too.

so directly or indirectly we,the people of Pakistan, needs correction and awareness of selecting our rulers.
    thanks.
