Anticipated but not expected change is here. Telenor has just given a new look to djuice – a youth targeted brand. With this change, djuice website gets new look as well as the tagline of the djuice has now been changed to “Khamoshi Ka Boycott” which previously was “It’s fun to be young”

Just creating fun, djuice has now decided to bring a meaningful change to youth life by working on some creative ideas to implement in all important walks of life, and with this not only creating a positive environment in Pakistan, djuice continues to create and introduce fun, entertainment and youth focused brand in the market.

Djuice today held an event at PC Karachi where the common problem in youth sector, “Booti Culture” was brought to scene. Youth enthusiasts as well as industry leaders joined the event where they discussed the issue.

Brand ambassadors of djuice, Shahzad Roy who is a famous Pakistani pop singer and Mahira Khan who is a famous VJ, actress and presenter at CityFm89 also attended the event.

No change has been done in djuice tariff and package plans as it was being anticipated that djuice is going to have an end but the case is totally different here. Only with a new idea to bring change in society by bringing important social issues to light, djuice is here as it was.

And yes the website has been totally redesigned and keeping up the tradition, djuice keeps its website as heavy it was. though the flash version is not there this time but with a bundle of images/content, djuice once again introduced a Heavy Website.

First thing to this series is to raise voice against “Booti Culture” which is really devastating the educational body and base of students. Here goes the first commercial of this series featuring one of the brand ambassadors of djuice, Shahzad Roy.

Following is an official press release, containing some words from the concerned persons.

Telenor Pakistan has announced its new philosophy towards its youth brand ‘djuice’ to reaffirm its commitment to the young people of Pakistan. The company announced the brand’s new philosophy through an unveiling event in Karachi today. Shahzad Roy represented djuice as Brand Ambassador. The event was attended by university students and representatives of the Youth Parliament.

The new philosophy, which empowers young people to speak out and take action against social injustices, comes with the tagline ‘Khamoshi ka Boycott’. The event comprised the unveiling of the new identity of the brand and a discussion among the audience on speaking out about the social problems they see in their everyday lives.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Marketing Officer Telenor Pakistan Aamir Ibrahim said:

“More than half of Pakistan’s population consists of youth, who are talented, intelligent and aware of their surroundings. Now all the youth need is direction, a means to speak out and raise their voice against social injustices. Through djuice’s ‘Khamoshi Ka Boycott’, we aim to do just that.”

Shahzad Roy and Mahira Khan have been named as djuice Brand Ambassadors.

Speaking about his association with djuice, Shahzad Roy said:

“Silence against wrong only increases frustration among nations. As the country’s youth, we are responsible for pointing out the wrongs that are prevalent in our society. We must realize that we cannot remain silent. We must speak up. I have done this through my music and my efforts towards education in the country. Now I want this to be taken up by all of you. Djuice can become a means for you to speak out.”

In a video message to the event’s audience, Mahira said: “What excites me about the project is that it’s a pro-social campaign. I like the people I am working with and they have assured me that it’s not just a commercial it’s going to be much more than this. Which is why I want to be a part of it. I like Khamoshi Ka Boycott. It’s something we need to do.”

Djuice is the world’s largest youth mobile brand and is spread across six countries. In Pakistan it was launched in 2006. Being the premier youth mobile brand in Pakistan, it is the choice of millions of young people across the country.

Following is the video from the event, held today at PC Karachi.

Tameer Microfinance Bank and Telenor Pakistan made another addition to the bouquet of easypaisa services with the launch of ‘International Home Transfer’ in collaboration with Xpress Money, UK. This service adds on to the existing domestic remittance service Money Transfer by providing international home remittances receiving facility in Pakistan.

The latest easypaisa service can be availed by anyone with a valid CNIC irrespective of any mobile operator or bank affiliation through all Sales and Service Centers and Franchises of Telenor Pakistan and all branches of Tameer Microfinance Bank.

Vice President Financial Services Telenor Pakistan, Roar Bjaerum, announced the launch of ‘International Home Transfer’ service and shared,

Lack of financial infrastructure in many areas of Pakistan makes the process of receiving international remittances sent by loved ones abroad cumbersome. easypaisa International Home Transfer is meant to facilitate bridging this gap. At the same time, this service is part of our vision to offer wider range of financial services to increase financial inclusion in Pakistan.

Speaking at the launch of International Home Transfer, the Chief Executive Officer Tameer Microfinance Bank, Nadeem Hussain said,

The regular stream of new additions in the easypaisa portfolio displays regulators confidence in the reliability and performance of the solution. This new service offers all the benefits of any conventional remittance service. We are making quick progress towards offering new services providing additional benefits to the customers.

The senders of funds from abroad can transfer the money through the wide network of Xpress agents present in more than 80 countries including United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and United Kingdom. A transaction ID will be generated on sending the amount which, along with the CNIC, are required to claim the funds through all Telenor Pakistan Sale & Service Centers, Franchises and Tameer Microfinance Bank outlets.

International remittances can play a valuable role in providing foreign exchange, but more importantly, also offer significant potential to support incomes of poor and vulnerable groups. Tameer Bank has been given a member status of Pakistan Remittances Initiative (PRI).

PRI is a joint initiative of State Bank of Pakistan, Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Ministry of Finance aimed at increasing the inflow of remittances through legal channels. Keeping in mind the importance of international remittances to Pakistan’s economy, the International Home Transfer service is being offered without any charges.

Telenor Pakistan and Tameer Microfinance Bank’s easypaisa International Home Transfer Service will extend its relationships to more transfer agents in addition to Xpress Money in the futur

A population of 2.37 million people will be benefitting from these projects in total which resides in the districts of Sanghar, Tharparkar Umerkot and Mirpur Khas in Mirpur Khas lot (218 muzas), Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan Districts in Bahawalpur Lot (888 muzas) and Bolan, Jaffarabad, Jhal Magsi and Nasirabad in Nasirabad lot (648 muzas).

Since commercial power has not reached most of the areas where USF is running rural telecom projects, it proved to be a barrier to provide smooth uninterrupted telecom service. Even where commercial power infrastructure is available, the availability of power is extremely limited.

As a result, the telecom operators had to rely completely on diesel generators. Not only there was the cost of diesel, the transport and re-fueling at these sites was also a big and expensive hassle. At the same time, there was also a great need for cross-cutting operational expenses for maintenance of remote and hard-to-reach sites. Therefore, following a consultative process where all stakeholders participated, it was decided that operators will bid for all future infrastructure in un-served areas with renewable energy solutions.

This decision has played an important role in reducing the energy costs and is also a small contribution towards dealing with the energy crisis in Pakistan. Moreover, this initiative will also help in reducing carbon content in the atmosphere.

Overall, the projects being executed by Universal Service Fund are showing great progress as the number of previously un-served Mauzas where service has been provided has crossed 3,500 and number of small towns and cities with broadband connections is approaching 200. At the same time, nearly 1,000 kms of Fiber Cables have been laid to connect Tehsils so far not served with Optical Fiber. Technical Audits are in progress at all the sites where the Operators have claimed to have completed the milestones, as payments are made only after full verification of the achieved targets by technical auditors.

Apparently, Pepsi Refresh Project and Telenor Karo Mumkin apparently seemed to be a copy of each other.

As it is clear that Telenor has launched its campaign a while ago so it can be the pure copy of Pepsi’s project.

Lets have a look at both websites.

Telenor Pakistan has just launched their “Karo Mumkin – Pakistan in future” campaign. The campaign inspires everyone to realize possibilities by sharing ideas about future Pakistan. The whole concept revolves around hope, inspiration and believing in the realization of possibilities.

Telenor Pakistan has been a pioneer in innovation and a few months back, realized an incredible possibility with the launch of easypaisa services. The idea was to bring the bank to the customer – a possibility that became a reality through easypaisa.

Looking beyond, we must also remember our own heroes – Sarmad Tariq, Pakistan’s first physically challenged wheelchair racer who competed in the New York Marathon, demonstrating remarkable strength of character and setting an example for us to follow. Let us also remember Nabeel, Pakistan’s first student scoring 26As in the A-level exams and setting the world record for this extraordinary achievement. There are many more that believed in their ambitions and rose beyond mediocrity to achieve them.

Carrying this tradition forward, through the “Karo Mumkin” campaign the platform for making dreams into realities is open to anyone and everyone.

You can also become part of Telenor Pakistan’s journey. If you want to be recognized for an innovative idea, then now is the time to register yourself on the “Karo Mumkin” web portal www.telenor.com.pk/karomumkin. An idea that best describes future Pakistan will be selected by a jury of specialists from all over Pakistan and will be aired on Karo Mumkin Television Show. Your idea could be the source of inspiration for the whole country and you could actually see your vision of a future Pakistan becoming a reality through a talk show.

Now is the time, to begin our journey towards achieving the goals that will give us the future Pakistan of our dreams.

Telenor Pakistan has become the first Telecom Operator in Pakistan to have received the prestigious ISO/IEC 27001:2005 certification for Information Security Management System (ISMS) for mobile banking services. After a robust and comprehensive ISO 27001 compliance audit performed by the Certification Body Moody International accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Services), the ISMS for mobile banking services has been assessed and found compliant with all international requirements. This certification will ensure secure and reliable mobile transactions through Tameer Microfinance Bank and Telenor Pakistan’s easypaisa.

Chief Technology Officer, Telenor Pakistan Khalid Shehzad while talking about the certification said, “By having achieved this certification for easypaisa services, we have tried to offer to our external customers a secure, reliable and organized information security system that will give them the confidence to conduct their financial transactions without any hesitation.”

ISO 27001:2005 is an international code of practice for Information Security Management Systems that was established by the British Standard Institution in 2005. ISO 27001 represents the only auditable international standard to define the requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). The certification is awarded only if the Information Security Management System ensures a defined security policy, a defined scope of ISMS, has conducted a thorough risk assessment and managed all identified risks. In addition, the certification directly benefits the customer by ensuring information security, transaction security and enhanced process efficiency.
